What is Pilates ?
Many people think Pilates is like yoga. Pilates was inspired by yoga and if you have done yoga, there are some similarities, such as the holistic approach, but Pilates also studied, tai chi, ballet and gymnastics. Pilates made a mind and body connection, originally calling his method ‘Contrology’.
He concentrated on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Pilates also focused on posture, balance and flexibility. The exercises are low impact, strengthening muscles while improving postural alignment, balance and flexibility. Pilates moves tend to target the core, although the exercises work other areas of your body as well. You can do Pilates with or without equipment (more on that later), but no matter what, expect the moves to involve slow, precise movements and breath control. Pilates is a full-body exercise method that will help you do everything better . It strengthens and stabilises your core body – your foundation, so that you can move efficiently while improving your posture, flexibility, and mobility.
Today’s Pilates Instructors put their own style and spin on the original exercises Pilates created. Angela Williams Pilates is a mix of Pilates original exercises but modified to be functional, beneficial, and to act as a counter balance to the stresses that our modern day lifestyles put on our bodies.

Pilates is my passion !
It keeps me strong, happy, healthy, pain free and with a rock solid core.
I became a Pilates teacher to help others, who like me suffer pain from musculo-skeletal issues. Strengthening the body is key . Pilates worked for me, and it can work for you too.
Joe Pilates was a genius! He was years ahead of his time. He knew that strength and movement was key to helping bodies recover from injury.
We believe his teachings are even more relevant today than ever.
Todays sedentary jobs with extended periods of sitting may cause postural imbalances in our bodies and, at worst, some serious health problems
Pilates can help you maintain a good posture and a strong core so your skeleton is supported correctly.
